Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

It is a non surgical, totally natural, medical procedure used for the treatment of thinning hair and restoring hair loss.
Platelets when injected into the scalp release various growth factors such as platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), transforming growth factor β (TGF-β) , vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), epidermal growth factor (EGF), insulin-like growth factor (IGF) and fibroblast growth factor (FGF) which help stimulate hair follicles resulting in hair growth.
Collecting patient’s own blood
Less than two ounces (between 15 to 50 mL) are required for the procedure. The collection is virtually identical to giving blood for a blood test, with a collection needle inserted into a vein in the arm and the blood withdrawn in a small vial.
Centrifugation of the collected blood
A centrifuge is a device that spins at high speeds. This action physically separates the solid and liquid parts of the blood: red blood cells (erythrocytes), white blood cells (leukocytes), platelets (thrombocytes), and plasma (liquid).
Collection of plasma rich in platelets
Regular blood contains about 200,000 platelets per mL, while platelet-rich plasma contains as much as five times that amount. The resulting three to seven milliliters of platelet-rich plasma will be collected in a syringe, to be administered immediately.
Injecting the PRP into the desired treatment area
The final syringe of platelet-rich plasma will contain approximately 1-2 teaspoons of fluid to produce the desired treatment results.

When PRP is injected into the skin, it

  • Heals damaged skin
  • Improves fine lines and wrinkles
  • Tones and tightens the skin
  • Improves under eye dark circles
  • Lightens acne marks
