These drawings have their origination in a traumatic phase I went through in 2006. Driven by circumstances, and betrayals from many unexpected quarters, leading to the divine relationship between man and woman seem obscene, I expressed my angst through a display of unrestrained eroticism in these drawings. These are spontaneous outbursts in terms of linework, without any lay-out. During that period, I never felt like engaging in my regular work, and for many months I continued to labor after these. This is the first time these works are being exhibited in a special show that connects a small section of my oeuvre to the legacy of F.N. Souza. I hope these drawings with their jarring dissonance, executed in explicit detail, will strike a chord with the discerning viewer.
