Biography

agmohan Singh “Bangani”, a full-time visual artist hailing from Uttarakhand, currently resides and works in Delhi. He holds a Master's degree in Painting from the Winchester School of Art, UK. Throughout his career, Bangani has received numerous awards and honours for his artistic endeavours. Notable accolades include the Kalanand All-India Grant Award from the Prafulla Dahanukar Foundation in Mumbai in 2023, a Merit Certificate Cash Award from the Delhi Art Society in 2019, and the North Zone Gold Medal Award for Digital Art from the Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation in 2017. He has also been a recipient of prestigious fellowships such as the Junior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India (2011-2013), the Ford Foundation Fellowship through the International Fellowships Program in New York, USA (2005-2007), and a Research Scholarship from the National Lalit Kala Akademi in Delhi (2002-2003). In 2001, he was honoured with the Uttarakhand State Award from the All India Fine Arts & Crafts Society in New Delhi. So far, he has done six solo shows including Visual Scriptures (2017), Scriptural Enchantment (2011), Texts, Words & Scripts (2010), Tapestry of Words (2008), Shabd- Nishabd (2007) and Early Memories (2004). His works are exhibited in a number of major group art exhibitions in India and abroad. His participation of artworks has been with a number of art fairs, art camps and residencies in India and abroad. Bangani’s art works are in collection with Secretariat Uttarakhand State (Dehradun), Lalit Kala Akademi, the Ford Foundation, Sahitya Kala Parishad, AIFACS and a number of private collections in India and abroad.
