Born in 1976 at Kendrapara district Orissa, Gopal Samantray accomplished his Master degree from Utakl University Bhubaneswar. His artwork always expresses the harnessing problem i.e. global warming, human encroachment. An onlooker always tends to stop for a second and think about it but in some sense bound to deal with it. His works are inspired by the idealization of life where one thinks the way world should act like.

The animal figures in his works always show the detachment from their homeland or natural space. Precisely in all of his works he attempts to show that the mankind has crossed the limit of imagination and has create the environment as per their need and choice.
